Garrett Pro-Pointer II Review: Is It Worth Buying in 2026?

A pinpointer is a short-range probe that finds the exact position of a target inside the hole you have already dug. Your detector narrows a target to roughly a foot; the Garrett Pro-Pointer II narrows it to an inch. Without one you widen the hole and sift by hand, which takes longer and does more damage to the ground — the reason most detectorists buy one within weeks of their first machine.

The Garrett Pro-Pointer II is rated Rain resistant only. Treat it as splash-resistant rather than submersible: rain, dew and damp soil are fine, but do not put it under water. For surf-zone or shallow-water hunting choose a fully submersible model instead.

Detection range is Up to 3" detection. That is normal for the category and not a weakness — a pinpointer is not meant to find targets from the surface. You use it once the detector has already put you within a foot, then probe the hole and the sides of the plug.

Garrett models additionally support Z-Lynk wireless audio when paired with a compatible Garrett detector, but that is a convenience feature, not a requirement.

Alerts are Audio + vibration. Vibration matters more than it sounds: in the surf, in wind, or when you are wearing headphones plugged into your detector, a buzz in the hand is the only signal you will reliably notice.
